ANNOUNCEMENT FOR REGULAR VISITORS ONLY!
Hi everyone. I would like to make an announcement. There have been many complains lately coming from different music labels, distributors and artists that we have received at our email regarding comments containing links to various location on the net where people can find their music for download. After explaining to them the event and why i think people tend to leave links in comments, most of them understood at some point that their music cannot be bought from a large number of the countries outside USA. There are literary thousands who live outside United States and would love to purchase on iTunes and support but the service is simply limited to only few countries. A huge number of these people living in these countries (where itunes and amazon are not available) live in poverty and do not own bank accounts, credit cards or any other method of supporting, but sure have heard of artists like Hillsong or Jeremy Camp and same as we do, they love to worship God alongside them. This is where the “leaving a comment with link” phenomenon seems to engage. Not because they don’t want to buy and definitely not because they are villains. If you think of it this way, then you’ve got the wrong picture.
First i would like to remind everyone the purpose of Christian Sonic. At Christian Sonic, we provide Christian Music album reviews written in articles and posted by various authors which like to give their fair opinion/critic on the reviewed item. People read the notes and based on that they decide to purchase the album or not. Don’t get me wrong, i randomly see some of the comments containing links, but the only thing that kept me from removing some of them was that maybe someone that cannot buy due to his financial situation could still be blessed hearing the message of whatever that link has to provide.
What i and everybody else wouldn’t like Christian Sonic to be is a place where those who have the possibility of buying and supporting the artists don’t do what they’re supposed to do but instead come and make use of the links.
Solution for regular visitors:
Because Christian Sonic attracts a large number of eyes daily as being a public opened website, links in comments do no longer fill their purpose since their visibility is opened to eveybody even potential buyers. Therefore CCM Scene (www.ccmscene.com) kicks in. If you live outside US, have nowhere to purchase christian music in your country and you are a regular christian sonic visitor, please go to ccmscene.com and register for a free account. ccmscene.com uses a twitter like interface and a new concept where you makes the news. ccmscene.com is set not to be indexed by google or any other search engines. Also accounts registered from economically developed countries (where itunes is an option) will not be permitted. It will simply be a small privately closed community for the “outsiders”. The registration will be closed once there are enough users to run the community properly. So hurry up and grab your free account today.
This way we would like to continue and spread the word among people who live in poverty and to whom buying an album is a commodity but who still want to praise the lord in spirit and truth with what is being given to them despite the hard way their lives are rolling day after day.
In 5 days from now, all comments that include links will be removed from Christian Sonic‘s platform. Reviews and News will continue to flow on Christian Sonic. Also everything else will stay intact, except that there will be no more comment linking allowed at all and the site will be instructed to automatically block any link from being posted in comments.
Here are some facts on the world we’re living in:
- $30 could buy you an ER DVD Boxset OR a First Aid kit for a village in Haiti.
- $73 could buy you a new mobile phone OR a new mobile health clinic to care for AIDS orphans in Uganda.
- $2400 could buy you a second generation High Definition TV OR schooling for an entire generation of school children in an Angolan village.
Are you a cheerful giver? Do you look for opportunities to share with others? God’s heart goes out to the poor and needy. Through His Word we are encouraged to share His love and goodness with others. When we donate to charity, when we give faithfully, we reap the joy of sharing… and God pours out His blessing! We can’t out-give God, but it doesn’t hurt to try!
“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” – 1 John 3: 17
